The IP Address is a number given to any hardware connected to the internet. They are basically of two types:
1 - Static IP address. They are issued by the Internet Service Provider to their clients semi-permanently. Most of the times, it concerns professionals.

The IP is written in "dotted decimal" notation, which is four sets of numbers separated by decimal points. The sets of number are always between 0 (zero) and 255 (for example 90.13.227.90.

But what are these sets of numbers ? It's very easy. In our example 90.13.227.90 :
- 90.13. is the network address.
- 227. is the address of the subnetwork.
- 90 is what we can call the "real" IP
address.

Web sites work the same way as web visitors. They are nothing different than a computer connected to the internet, and because of that, they work with IP Numbers. To be clear, when you visit a website, your IP connects with the IP of the web site. One more time, we can compare that to a phone call. Visiting a web site is just like making a call to this web site. When the 2 IPs are connected, you visit the web site, just like now you visit MyIP.biz.
